No Practice

Parents:

We will not have practice this week. Coach has to work late all week and will not be able to make it before the sun sets......

We are still trying to set up pictures and the end of season party. We will hand out trophies at the party! We might just have to take our own pictures at the party??

Next game is this Saturday. 10:00am. Please be there at 9:45 to get a good warm up. Dress accordingly it will probably be chilly that morning!

The boys continue to impress....

Tough start

It looked like the boys had finally met their match! But Blue Thunder followed with a little lightning and won 15-1.

On Fire

The boys are on fire!! Blue Thunder took their fourth win of the season and are holding a four game winning streak!!

Not sure if you guys realize it but Blue Thunder has scored 88 goals in four games and only 8 goals total against them.

Next practice is this Wednesday October 14th 5:20-6:15pm.

Next Game is this Saturday October 16th at 1:00pm.
Please be there by 12:45pm.

Game 2

The Boys played another awesome game. We watched the mustangs the prior week and it looked like it was going to be a close game. It turned out to be otherwise, Blue Thunder took the win 23-3!

Our practice for this week will be this Monday September 28 5:20pm-6:20pm.

Next Game is this saturday VS Strykers at 2pm.

Awesome win

The boys played an awesome game saturday! They really turned on the jets scoring 22 points.... and only allowed 3!

We will only have one practice this week!

Great Practice

We had a great practice yesterday. Looks like we are going to have a great season.
The boys were very aggressive and were eager to chase the ball and score.

Next Practices:

Monday Labor Day Sept. 7 5:15pm - 6:20pm.

Wednesday Sept. 9 5:30pm - 6:20pm.

Coaches Meeting

Hello Parents:

Not sure how many players will be returning? I will find out Monday August 31 at our coaches meeting.

Keep checking blog for practice dates and times.

In the meantime please work on these skills at home:

1. Dribbling - Dribble the ball back and forth from one side of the yard to the other. Tell them to keep the ball close to their feet.

2. Shooting - Have them shoot the ball really hard at a goal or to a specific goal.

3. Passing - Have them pass the ball to you using the right inside of their foot then their left side of their foot. They also need to receive the ball properly with the toe up and heel down.

4. Toe taps - Have them use both feet and count to 10 while doing them.

5. Pull backs - toss the ball have them pull the ball back with their right foot and dribble to you.

6. Shielding - Have them dribble the ball towards you, then you try to take it away and have them protect their ball by either going around you or using their feet to win their challenge.

7. Defense - You dribble the ball towards them and tell them to try to take it away and either kick it away or take it and dribble.

If you work on these in the next few weeks the boys will be well prepared for practice and we can work on game tactics and situations!

Winds Winds Winds

The winds have been so bad the last two games. The boys had a hard time keeping the ball in the field due to the strong winds. They did great once again but it was much closer than the last two games! Please keep practicing at home... Try doing "pull backs" and "toe taps" these are great ball handling skills.

Saturday's game was a great one! The boys learned a lot from the last game. They all chased the ball and broke out with some long distance dribbling, they also took more shots at the goal. We also had three different players score! They will get better and better each game.

See yall at practice.... :) Please keep up with the snack list and call me if you will miss practice or a game. Way to go Blue Thunder!!!! (Dinosaurs :) )

First Game Jitters

What a game! The boys finally got a chance to play! There were jitters and moments of "what do I do" but they did great. Hopefully now they know what to expect and figure out that they need to chase the ball. We need to encourage them to stay in the whole quarter because pretty soon they will not allow me to sub so much unless they are hurt or just won't come in the field.

Please work with them at home on dribbling and to chase the ball. Play follow the leader at home, Mom or dad dribble the ball around the yard and have them follow you with their ball. Thats all I did with Lucas, dribble, dribble, and dribble!

Next Practice: Tuesday 5:15pm - 6:25pm! as soon as you can get there.... :)

Note: From now on we will only practice once a week, that is all that is recommended at this age group, most skill development is built upon practicing at home. Its like piano, guitar etc... you learn the basics and how to at practice but the building of skills is done at home.

If you have never been to the soccer complex go to our blog links section, click on LSA link, click on Map. When you get to the soccer complex DO NOT turn right go straight to the farthest end of the A fields and you will find A12!

Next Practice

We had a great first practice! The boys got to do some skills that advanced players use at the 7-8 year old level. Please don't stress if they don't do it the exact way let them learn it and with time they will improve.

The skills we covered today were basic dribbling,shooting, toe taps, around the world toe taps, pull backs, knee bounces, chest traps, and headers! Of course at a 4 year old level. :)

Next practices are Tuesday and Thursday. Same place from 5:30 - 6:20pm.

Hopefully uniforms will be here tomorrow and I can get them to the printer asap!
